HOW TO MEASURE YOURSELF
1. CHEST / PIT-TO-PIT
To find your chest measurement, take a tape measure and wrap it under your armpits at the fullest part of your chest, making sure it’s snug but not tight. Ensure the tape is parallel to the floor. The number you get is your chest measurement. Divide this total by two to get your pit-to-pit measurement.
2. SHOULDER
To find your shoulder measurement, ask a friend or relative to place the end of the measuring tape where your shoulder meets the top of your arm (the boniest part). From there, stretch the tape straight across your back to the tip of your other shoulder. The number you get is your shoulder width. Alternatively, you can take this measurement from a favorite shirt.
3. ARM / SLEEVE LENGTH
To find your sleeve length, take a tape measure and begin at the top of your arm (the boniest part of your shoulder), down to just below your wrist bone. The number you get is your sleeve length.
4. BACK LENGTH / LENGTH
To find your length measurement, ask a friend or relative to place a tape measure at the nape of your neck (the bony point at the back of your neck). Holding the tape taut, measure straight down to the top of your hips. The number you get is your back length. Alternatively, you can take this measurement from a favorite shirt.
5.HIP
To find your hip measurement, wrap the tape measure around the fullest part of your hips and buttocks, keeping the tape snug but not tight. Make sure the tape is level and parallel to the floor. The number you get is your hip measurement.
Pant Measurements
1. WAIST
Place the measuring tape at the smallest part of your waist. Relax your stomach and wrap the tape around, making sure it is snug but not tight. Keep the tape parallel to the floor. The number you get is your waist measurement.
2. RISE
Take your best-fitting pants and lay them flat. Measure from the crotch seam up the front to the top of the waistband (just below the band). This is your rise measurement.
3. INSEAM
Lay your pants flat. Measure from the crotch seam down along the inside seam of the leg to the hem. This is your inseam measurement.
4. HEM / LEG OPENING
Lay the pants flat. Measure straight across the bottom hem of one leg. Double this number. This is your hem or leg opening measurement.
5. SIDE SEAM LENGTH
Add your rise and inseam measurements together. The total is your side seam length.
